Vi speed test

Measure your Vi (Vodafone Idea) mobile data right now: download, upload, ping and jitter, in your browser.

–Mbps

  • Download–Mbps
  • Upload–Mbps
  • Ping–ms
  • Jitter–ms

A test uses mobile data: about 10–20 MB on a slow line, 100 MB or more on fast 5G or fibre. Results are measured from your browser to the nearest Cloudflare data centre and change with your device, WiFi, time of day and network load. They are for your information only and are not an official measurement by TRAI or any operator.

How to test Vi speed properly

Turn off WiFi, close downloads, and press Start. The network name above the dial should read Vodafone Idea. Test more than once and at different times, because mobile speed changes through the day.

Vi 4G and 5G

Vi has been adding 5G in a growing list of cities. If your phone shows 5G, the test measures 5G; if it shows 4G or LTE, it measures 4G. The Vi app shows whether 5G is live in your area.

Why Vi internet can be slow

  • High-speed data for the day is over on your pack: check the Vi app.
  • Busy evenings on the local tower: compare with a morning test.
  • Weak signal indoors: try near a window.
  • APN: normally automatic; if data does not connect, check that it is www.

Questions people ask

Is this an official Vi test?

No. It is an independent test that works on any network.

Why is upload much lower than download?

Mobile networks give most of their capacity to download. An upload a fraction of the download speed is normal on 4G and 5G.

How this test works

Your browser first times eleven tiny requests to the nearest Cloudflare data centre (ping and jitter), then downloads test files over several connections until the speed holds steady, then uploads random data the same way. The first moments, while the connection speeds up, are left out. Nothing you download or upload is kept.
