JioFiber and Jio AirFiber speed test
Is your JioFiber or Jio AirFiber giving the speed you pay for? Test download, upload, ping and jitter in your browser.
- Download–Mbps
- Upload–Mbps
- Ping–ms
- Jitter–ms
What this connection is good for
A test uses mobile data: about 10–20 MB on a slow line, 100 MB or more on fast 5G or fibre. Results are measured from your browser to the nearest Cloudflare data centre and change with your device, WiFi, time of day and network load. They are for your information only and are not an official measurement by TRAI or any operator.
How to test JioFiber or AirFiber properly
- Use a laptop on a LAN cable if you can. Otherwise stand in the same room as the router and connect to its 5 GHz WiFi (often the network name ending in _5G).
- Pause other devices: a TV streaming 4K or a phone backing up photos takes a share of the line.
- Press Start, then compare the download with your plan's speed.
JioFiber comes over a fibre line to your home; Jio AirFiber comes over Jio's 5G network to an outdoor or indoor unit, so its speed can change with the 5G signal and with how busy the cell is.
Why you may not see your plan speed
- WiFi, not the line. 2.4 GHz WiFi rarely goes above 50 to 100 Mbps in a real home, whatever the plan. The 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz guide explains.
- The device. Older phones and laptops have slower WiFi chips. A test on a newer phone near the router shows what the line can do.
- Distance and walls. Each wall between you and the router costs speed.
Questions people ask
Why is my upload as fast as my download?
Fibre plans are often symmetric: the same speed both ways. That is normal for JioFiber.
Is this the official JioFiber test?
No. It is an independent test that works on any connection.
How this test works
Your browser first times eleven tiny requests to the nearest Cloudflare data centre (ping and jitter), then downloads test files over several connections until the speed holds steady, then uploads random data the same way. The first moments, while the connection speeds up, are left out. Nothing you download or upload is kept.
