BSNL speed test
Check your BSNL mobile data or Bharat Fibre line: download, upload, ping and jitter, in your browser with no app.
- Download–Mbps
- Upload–Mbps
- Ping–ms
- Jitter–ms
What this connection is good for
A test uses mobile data: about 10–20 MB on a slow line, 100 MB or more on fast 5G or fibre. Results are measured from your browser to the nearest Cloudflare data centre and change with your device, WiFi, time of day and network load. They are for your information only and are not an official measurement by TRAI or any operator.
Testing BSNL mobile data
Turn off WiFi and press Start; the network above the dial should say Bharat Sanchar Nigam or BSNL. BSNL has been rolling out 4G across India on equipment built in India, so in many areas you may still be on 3G or 2G. If your phone shows H+, 3G or E, expect much lower speeds than on 4G.
Testing Bharat Fibre (BSNL broadband)
For the truest result, connect a laptop to the router with a LAN cable, or stand close to the router on 5 GHz WiFi. Compare the result with the speed in your plan; our WiFi speed test page explains why WiFi often shows less.
Why BSNL internet can be slow
- Your area may not have BSNL 4G yet; check the network type in the status bar.
- Daily or monthly data limits on your plan may have been reached.
- For mobile data, the APN is normally set automatically; if data does not connect, check that it is
bsnlnet.
Questions people ask
Is this the official BSNL speed test?
No. It is an independent test that works on every network.
Can I use it on a BSNL landline broadband?
Yes. Any connection that opens web pages can run the test.
How this test works
Your browser first times eleven tiny requests to the nearest Cloudflare data centre (ping and jitter), then downloads test files over several connections until the speed holds steady, then uploads random data the same way. The first moments, while the connection speeds up, are left out. Nothing you download or upload is kept.
