Broadband speed test

Check your home broadband from any provider (fibre, cable or AirFiber): download, upload, ping and jitter.

–Mbps

  • Download–Mbps
  • Upload–Mbps
  • Ping–ms
  • Jitter–ms

A test uses mobile data: about 10–20 MB on a slow line, 100 MB or more on fast 5G or fibre. Results are measured from your browser to the nearest Cloudflare data centre and change with your device, WiFi, time of day and network load. They are for your information only and are not an official measurement by TRAI or any operator.

Comparing the result with your plan

Plans are sold in megabits per second (Mbps). Download apps and browsers often show megabytes per second (MB/s), which is eight times smaller: a 100 Mbps plan downloads at about 12.5 MB/s at best. Our Mbps to MB/s converter does the maths.

On a cable connection a result within about 10% of the plan is normal, since some of the line carries the data that makes the connection work. Over WiFi, expect less, especially on 2.4 GHz.

Getting the truest result

  • Use a LAN cable, or sit near the router on 5 GHz.
  • Pause streaming, downloads and backups on other devices.
  • Run the test at a few different times, including the evening.

Questions people ask

Which providers does this work with?

All of them: JioFiber, Airtel Xstream, ACT, Hathway, BSNL Bharat Fibre, Excitel, local cable operators and others.

Why is upload lower than download on cable?

Many cable and older plans give less upload than download. Fibre plans are often the same both ways.

How this test works

Your browser first times eleven tiny requests to the nearest Cloudflare data centre (ping and jitter), then downloads test files over several connections until the speed holds steady, then uploads random data the same way. The first moments, while the connection speeds up, are left out. Nothing you download or upload is kept.
