How to print a UPI QR stand

Updated: 2026-10-11

A QR stand only helps if customers' phones read it in a second. These checks make that happen.

Size

A phone scans a code from roughly ten times its width. A 7 cm code reads from about 70 cm, which suits a counter. Use the A5 table stand for most counters, the A4 poster on a wall or pillar, and A6 cards or the 4-sticker sheet for billing machines, delivery bags and doors.

Printer settings

  • Print at 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" changes the size and can crop the edge.
  • Keep the white margin around the code (the quiet zone). Cutting into it stops some phones from reading the code.
  • Any home inkjet or the photocopy shop's laser printer is fine. Check that black prints solid, not streaky.

Paper and cover

Use thick matte paper or card. Glossy lamination reflects shop lights and can slow scanning, so prefer matte lamination or a plastic stand with a clear sleeve. Keep the code dark on light: black, navy or maroon on white works best.

Where to put it

Place the stand at the billing point, facing the customer, at chest height or on the counter, away from direct sunlight and glare. If customers often queue, put a second sticker where the queue forms.

Test before you laminate

Scan the printed stand with two or three different phones and apps, and send ₹1 to check the name and account. Then laminate. Repeat the test whenever you print a new batch.

Make your stand with the UPI QR code generator: pick Plain, Bold header or Diwali, choose the size and print.
